► Background

Meryl is the younger sister to fellow Arena competitor, Wanda. Growing up, Meryl constantly looked to her older sister for everything. For as long as she could remember, Wanda was always a model person. Kind, intelligent, curious, all these qualities Meryl sought to emulate from her sister. Even going as far to follow in her footsteps towards the field of astronomy. However, Meryl would find a greater interest in biology, and after finally stepping out from behind the shadow of her sister, Meryl felt fulfilled.

As time would go on, Meryl fell deeper and deeper into her studies, and while she never did quite come close to ever accomplishing it, she tried day after day to find ways to create new biological life from inanimate biological material. Often when Meryl would present her minimal findings to peers for review, many would become disgusted or unnerved by her attempts at subverting the natural process of life.

Meryl would then show her closest friend and only sister, Wanda, her work. To the horror of Meryl, her sister was also horrified by what her younger sibling was doing. Then in a fit of blind rage over not understanding why what she was doing was so wrong, she told her sister to leave and to never come back or speak to her again. From that day forward Meryl decided that nothing more mattered to her than completing just one successful experiment. She never was that fond of relationships anyway and outside of her sister who she just banished from her life, she didn't keep in contact with much of anyone else either.

Years began to pass, and slowly Meryl decided that perhaps after all the reactions she had received, that maybe it was best to pivot from trying to create life, to trying to heal existing life. Meryl would learn in her intensified study sessions that with the proper tools, some ancient civilizations claimed you could siphon the life force of one person and bestow it upon another. Such an idea intrigued Meryl, and she would divert her attention swiftly towards this end. A time would come where Meryl felt she was on the verge of a huge breakthrough, when yet again, the experiment she was running failed and she began to feel like giving up. A few moments earlier she would hear a knock at her door. She opened it, and the image she saw would haunt her for the rest of her life.

Meryl saw before her, a ragged, disheveled looking version of her older sister that she did not recognize. Nor could she understand a word she was trying to say, with what appeared to be her only remaining eye completely consumed with a void like color. After a rather confusing one sided discussion, Wanda appeared to get somewhat agitated, and weakly held a hand up to the forehead of her younger sister. Bestowing upon her the same magical abilities she did to her own daughter years prior and handing her a staff she was holding at the time. Still in shock from the entire situation, Meryl realized that in her hands now was the exact "proper tool" she was looking for. With this staff and power, Meryl found herself able to create copies of other lifeforms as well as siphon life force from them, and noticed that when she looked through the gem atop her staff that it revealed the lifeform she was currently looking at, and that is when she realized that there was something far more wrong with Wanda than she thought. Meryl reluctantly decided to quickly open her sister's eye socket to find an alien looking parasite that had attached itself to her. Which was promptly removed and destroyed.

Within minutes Wanda could feel her mind returning towards something closer to normal. She was unfortunately permanently scarred and changed by the experience in many ways and what remains from the experience is a shattered and debilitated Wanda who asked Meryl about Wanda's husband Bosh and their daughter, Bash. To which she said she had not seen or heard from them in a long time.

The pair of sisters would eventually decide that a good way to get Wanda's mind off the situation would be to try testing their powers out in an Arena that Meryl had recently heard about that was opening soon. Wanda would be selected to start in the trial run Season, with Meryl joining in the first official Season. By the time of the third season, The Grand Ball Cup, Wanda and Meryl would team up as the Wicked Sisters, but evidently Wanda's recovery was still having an effect on things, and Meryl's relatively brief time with her powers resulted in them going out without a single win.

With her sister joining a team with her daughter for the Season 4 Boss Gauntlet, Meryl looked elsewhere for a team to join, when she stumbled upon Louis and Caesar who happened to be looking for a third teammate. Enjoying the presence of the two rather jovial individuals, Meryl felt she found a good team to keep her sane from whatever horrors were below in the Gauntlet.

► Abilities & Traits
Summoning Staff
Weapon

Meryl's summoning crystal, attached to her staff, allows her to create up to 3 clones of her opponent on contact. Each clone is slightly smaller than the original and has 15 HP, but otherwise shares the exact stats of the ball it was copied from, making Meryl an extremely unpredictable opponent. Meryl can also touch a summon with her staff to siphon 5 HP from it once per that summon's lifetime. In Boss Battles, Meryl instead summons clones of her teammates rather than the boss.
