Haliberton debuted in Season 0 and made a statement with a 3-1 record, losing only to Bosh who was 4-0 at the time in the final match of the pre season. During the transition to Season 1, he discovered the young talent Arlo, and so Haliberton decided to take the season off to hone his own skills and to train Arlo leading up to his debut in Season 2. Haliberton would return in Season 2 stronger than ever and more determined to win it all after missing an entire season. Even though he is the teacher to young Arlo, he told him that there would be no holding back, should they face each other in battle going forward. The pair would go on to form a team in Season 3, the Grand Ball Cup, where they would be knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. During the Season however, Arlo became good friends with Tama, a newcomer that Season who was teamed up with Finn. Having enjoyed teaching Arlo as he did, Haliberton decided to also take Tama under his tutelage as well once the Season was over, allowing the three to form a team in Season 4, where they enter the Boss Gauntlet as Master and Students.
Shortly after the birth of Haliberton, his training began. The sole purpose of Haliberton's existence was to create the perfect soldier, training him from day one to become more capable than any other in the field of battle. Raised on the isle of Iberton. Hal Berd Iberton, who prefers to simply go by Haliberton, though many call him Hali as a shorter name, much to his slight annoyance. Spent years and years of his life dedicating himself to improving his combat skills, and when the day came that he was considered old enough, at the age of just fourteen, he was installed as the personal body guard to the Prime Minister of Iberton's daughter, who was the same age.
Many years would pass and despite all the traveling, and attempts on her life, Haliberton quickly dispatched any threats that came their way. Nearly ten years after being given the assignment, the two would fall for one another, and eventually they would marry. One day, however, Haliberton awoke to find his wife, the very reason for his existence, the only thing he felt was worth protecting in the world, struck down with a severe illness, and over the course of several months, despite the best efforts from all the different medical professions on the Isle of Iberton, nothing anyone could do would seem to improve her condition. This period of time destroyed Haliberton on the inside. His whole life he trained and broke his mind and body to become the perfect protector. Yet he stood helpless before the one thing he cared about most in life, and was powerless. As fate would have it, the day would eventually come where the sickness that struck her down would be her undoing, and from that day forward, Haliberton was never seen again by anyone on the island.
He would never tell a soul, but after he left, Haliberton laid face up in the boat he would take to leave, staring up at the star lit night sky and for the first time in his life, he could feel tears stream down his face. All his life he resented nearly everything that wasn't her. All he could think of was her, and how he ultimately failed his life's mission. After a couple days of aimlessly floating, Haliberton felt no motivation to try and find civilization, and he even intended to simply lay there, floating until somehow, hopefully, he too would expire and be able to see his wife again.
Unfortunately, Haliberton woke up. His eyes opened, and as they adjusted to the bright sunlight, he realized his boat had washed ashore, on a completely foreign land to him. Not having the will to even decide where to go next, Haliberton looked around himself, and noticed in the sand beneath him, a somewhat buried bottle with a note inside. He opened it and discovered a flier for the grand opening of a battle arena in a few months. After some consideration, Haliberton thought to himself that if he can't live the life he wanted, he would instead spend the rest of it doing the only other thing he knew how. To Fight.
Haliberton wouldn't actually speak a single word to anyone once he arrived. He filled out the proper paperwork, claimed his room, and would never be seen by anyone except for when he would emerge to do battle. He was never seen in the medical bays, never seen in the facility's social spaces. It wouldn't be until he met the young Arlo, that he suddenly felt something, as he looked at the talented foil user and saw a young version of himself, almost like a son that he never got the chance to have with the love of his life. After a solemn introduction, Haliberton found that Arlo was quite cheerful and optimistic, acting nearly in the polar opposite fashion to how he did in his more prime years nearly twenty years ago. Despite some reservations Haliberton had because of this he found that Arlo's presence helped him feel better and a little more normal, and he found that training and teaching him created a sense of fulfillment he had not felt before. Flash forward to now with Tama in tow as well, the trio will set out to take on The Boss Gauntlet, in hopes of defeating whatever may be below.
A long polearm with two distinct damage zones. The small blade deals 6 damage per hit, while the large blade deals 9 damage per hit.
Every so often, Haliberton pulls the halberd back and launches forward in a lunging dash with forward momentum. If the pointed tip connects with an opponent during the dash, it deals 16 damage.
