Tama is a prodigy in the art of Kendo. Oddly enough, no one in her family is particularly adept with a Shinai. Tama however, considers herself to not be truly whole without a wooden sword in hand. From a young age she would pick up various sticks around her home, unknowingly teaching herself how to defend herself with them. Once she discovered there were competitions between individuals fighting with swords of wood, Tama was overjoyed at the idea of others sharing her passion for combat.
She would however be wildly disappointed to discover that there was zero competition among those around her, not one individual, even the best of the best as they claimed, stood no chance against her. Part of the reason being that no one expected the likes of her to be as good as she was with a shinai in hand. Soon enough, there was simply no one left in the village she called home who could challenge her.
Soon however, word started spreading of some kind of Arena designed to bring in the best of the best from around the world to test their skills. Tama was intrigued by the thought of having a real challenge, and she had the whole village's support behind her, as they encouraged her to set out and join the fray. Unfortunately however Tama would have a difficult time navigating the way. While she may be one of the best at her craft in combat, she was a very poor navigator. After running into dead ends, language barriers, and misunderstood directions, Tama eventually managed to reach the grounds of The Arena.
Tama arrived eager to put her skills to the test against some of the best in the world as she had heard. She ran to the registration desk, buzzing and excited to state her intent to join the Arena and test her skills to see if she could become part of the roster. When suddenly, she turned to her right and saw a young man who was just barely an inch or two taller than her, and he started speaking to her in a language she didn't quite understand. This created a bit of confusion, before an older looking man introduced himself as Haliberton, and translated what was being said. After a back and forth, she learned the other man's name was Arlo, and the two became friends rather quickly, as they shared with one another various aspects of their respective cultures and teaching each other their languages. Tama would go on to pass the tests with flying colors, and was an immediate addition to the roster. While she initially desired to team up with Arlo after their meeting for the Season 3 Grand Ball Cup, he explained that he had a prior obligation to Haliberton, and thus he could not abandon him in this Season. Tama however, understood the predicament and instead decided on finding another teammate. When eventually she noticed a lonely looking older man, seemingly partnerless near the registration desk. She then soon realized that the person in question was Finn, the champion of the previous Season, yet he didn't seem like the champion type. Regardless, she introduced herself, and was shocked to discover Finn actually was fluent in her home language, this made becoming teammates rather easy, and the two got along quite well. With each of them learning a thing or two from the other, given their similar fighting styles, despite having such different weapons.
After the Grand Ball Cup's conclusion, Tama thanked Finn for everything, and set out to join Arlo and Haliberton for the Season 4 Boss Gauntlet under the team name, Master and Students.
Tama wields a Shinai made of bamboo. Her style however is so incredibly quick and ferocious, she often finds herself destroying her weapon against her opponents body. Thankfully, she has a seemingly infinite amount of them at her disposal. It only takes her 3 seconds to grab another one from her...pocket? The Shinai itself does 1 Damage, but for every hit within a short timespan, the Shinai does +1 damage, and maxes out at 5 hits in a row before the Shinai breaks, leaving Tama defenseless for 5 seconds. Her attacks do no knockback, allowing her to chain together unique combos that can add up to massive damage. But when her weapon breaks, it splits into two chunks that fly off into the arena as projectiles that deal 3 Damage on contact.
