► Background

Otis. Known throughout the Arena as quite the resident sleeper. Otis has been seen sleeping in just about any area within the Arena grounds and facilities. He isn't exactly sure why he is always so tired, and for a long time, this issue plagued him greatly. Often he could be awake for mere moments before the urge to go back to sleep would overcome him. It would get so bad to the point of Otis falling asleep in the middle of battle. He wasn't always like this however…

Prior to joining the Arena, Otis was part of a group of knights, tasked with playing the role of security around the town he lived in at the time. He was quite good at his job and enjoyed it greatly, as there was often little conflict, and most people felt too fearful to face the wrath of his large imposing shield he carried everywhere. One day however, his assignment for the day was to stand guard outside a church building that saw a great deal of protests happening. Otis was not pleased with this, as he wasn't the biggest fan of actually getting into conflict. But he knew he had to do his job. While standing guard, Otis overheard several protestors yelling and calling out someone that evidently was within the building behind them. Father something or other, he couldn't quite make out the words being said, as his helmet muffled much of the loud noise in the area. Eventually standing atop a balcony facing the protestors, a man had stepped out to say something, but at that moment, everyone in the area began stampeding towards the doors to try and get to him. In the ensuing chaos, Otis was unexpectedly pushed over and trampled upon, sustaining several blows to the head in the process.

The next thing Otis knew, he awoke in a nearby infirmary. He couldn't remember much at all, only his name and that he was incredibly tired. He stood up, and saw a large shield beside the bed he was in. He picked it up and left. Unsure of where to go at this point due to the sudden amnesia he had experienced, Otis set off in the direction of the Arena completely by chance, and upon asking the staff where the nearest place to stay was, Otis registered to join the arena as a fighter, passed the tests and promptly went to his living quarters and fell asleep. He would not wake up for nearly a whole day.

Eventually he awoke, and found that despite his long sleep, he was still incredibly tired. Despite his best efforts, he could only stay awake for brief periods of time, and would spontaneously fall asleep at almost any moment. Because of this Otis often would appear for battle dressed completely for sleeping as opposed to fighting. Yet fight on he would with his shield in front of him, even while sleeping he managed to do so. How this is possible is unknown to those that have fought him. Eventually however, he was approached by Al, and offered to make a team for the Season 3 Grand Ball Cup tournament. Otis would accept and with Al's insistence on Otis drinking coffee, the time between him sleeping and being awake was getting longer and longer. Otis found more and more energy by the day, which would carry them to the grand final of the tournament, where they would fall to second place against Mira and Cyrus.

Later on, Otis would be approached by Gunther and Flikki, who requested he join their team for the Boss Gauntlet. He saw no issue with this, seeing as Al was on a team with his daughter, Luna, and previous season champion Mira. Otis would join the team, and form Target Practice with the other two by his side. After the whole season of coffee drinking Otis was finally beginning to feel a little more like the old self he still can't quite remember.

More recently however, Otis has been seeing a strange man staring at him from a distance every so often as he walks the Arena grounds…

► Abilities & Traits
Shield
Weapon

Not only is this shield great for blocking, it comes equipped with four spikes, two on either end and two in front, each dealing 8 damage on contact.

Reflector
Active

The center of the shield acts as a reflector, turning incoming projectiles back toward their sender and dealing the same damage they would have normally.

Reflexive Aim and Sleep
Passive

Otis is now able to aim his shield most of the time. The shield auto-aims at incoming projectiles, though it isn't the fastest to respond. After taking a hit, Otis is unable to aim the shield for a couple of seconds.
